COACHING PSYCHOLOGY

The art, science and practice of facilitating change in human behaviour. The wu wei approach equips you with the tools to achieve optimal performance while maintaining balance and harmony.

"Wu wei is often translated as “not doing,” “not acting,” or “not interfering,” but “not forcing” seems to me to hit the nail on the head.
We never force a lock because we will bend the key or break the lock. Instead we jiggle it until it turns.

Wu wei means always acting in accord with the pattern of things as they exist. When we follow the principle of wu wei, we do not impose any kind of extraneous force on a situation, because such force, by its very nature, is not in accord with the situation.” - Alan Watts

ABOUT

A career in corporate law in London was varied, intellectually stimulating, and deeply rewarding work. On secondment to a multiconglomerate media client to support restructuring, the pace slowed down but the range of stakeholders stepped up. After a career break to raise children, I followed my passion in the science of mind, behaviour and psyche. Clients today can benefit from a consolidation of all these skills.

Research

As a published author, editor and peer reviewer for psychology journals, I bring my findings directly to you. My study on wu wei is the first to offer a non-striving approach in elite performance and can be applied in settings as diverse as sports, management and politics.

Wu wei is a Taoist philosophical concept that can be witnessed in our daily lives. Literally translated from 無為 it means “not doing” or “action through inaction”, taking the path of least resistance in any conflict or choosing not “to swim against the tide” shows this mindset. Bruce Lee embodied and spoke of it and you can see in the vast body of film archives where he dedicated himself to the way with great effect.
